August 2007:

What's New In Tracks

Remove Openings – Corrected a error where some wall lines were removed when they didn’t need to be. You can also now use this to clean up a wall after you delete an intersecting wall.

Handrail – This now has a On Post button for sloping handrails. Position a post at the top and bottom of a handrail and Jack the post to the correct RL. When you use the On Post option the handrail program uses the RL of the post to adjust the RL of the handrail. Handrails are now also grouped to make it easier to move or copy the handrail once you have placed it on the drawing.

External and Internal Walls – Save your favorite wall settings using the wall settings drop down. Configure the wall settings the way you want and then use the add/modify to name these settings. Then anytime you like you can just select that name to have those settings entered. You can also use the match option to match the settings to an existing wall if you can’t remember what you used.

Room Dimensions – As well as being able to do room length and width you can have the program place the area of the room.

Posts – Group option to group the parts of a post into one group, this makes selecting the post to move or copy much easier.

Spacer – This program is used to place objects evenly along a line. This is useful for putting posts along the front of a verandah or joists across the floor.

Cutting list – This program collects up lines drawn on a selected layer and tallies them into lengths for a cutting list. The list can be placed on the drawing in a table format.

Shadow generator – the shadows are now placed over the floor plan as they are generated. The position will need to be adjusted but the rotation is correct.

3D Jack – You can use Jack to change the height of a post by stretching the top or bottom up or down. You can also Jack the selected objects so that the top or bottom matches a particular height. The defined height can be set beforehand by either typing in the value or selecting the 3D corner that you want to match.

Terrain – In some models holes in the model were created, these have now been fixed. The outlying points of the grid that are outside the survey points, are now set to the RL of the nearest calculated height. This provides a better model of the existing ground profile.

Drawing Clean Up - /CUP This utility is useful to clean up drawings that have text in different fonts, dimensions, lines and symbols it loads your preferred style and then works through the drawings replacing items with the correct settings.

Windows – Creating windows should now be a little easier, when entering window sizes first set the number of columns then when you fill in the left hand width all the widths match that size.

Erase Window arrows – for those of you who don’t want to show the arrows on the floor plan there is now a new utility that will delete all the arrows. Look for it under the window flyout.

Boundary select – PX this little tool may help you when you want to select some complex parts of a drawing. You will be prompted to select point like a polygon around what you want to select, press Esc to complete the polygon and it will try to select only those things inside the polygon or if you choose the crossing options those that are partially in the polygon. This should be very useful for copying and moving parts of a building.
